Compress Image

Compress images in your browser with a live quality slider and side-by-side size comparison. Free, unlimited, and never uploaded.

Runs entirely in your browser — no uploads

About this tool

Compress Image decodes your picture to a canvas and re-encodes it at your chosen quality, showing the original and compressed sizes side by side before you download.

PNG input is flattened onto white (or kept transparent where the browser allows) and saved as JPEG or WebP for real size wins. Everything runs on the Canvas API — your photo is never sent anywhere.

FAQ

How much smaller will my image get?
Photos typically shrink 60–90% at medium quality. Flat graphics compress less; try WebP output for the biggest savings on most content.
What does the quality slider mean?
It maps to the encoder’s internal quality value. Lower numbers mean smaller files and more artifacts; 0.6–0.8 is usually visually indistinguishable from the original.
Can I resize while compressing?
Yes — enable “Resize” and set a maximum width in pixels; height scales proportionally, which also cuts size further.
